Federal Transportation Improvement Program (FTIP)
The Federal Transportation Improvement Program (FTIP) is a capital listing of all transportation projects proposed over a four-year period for the SBCAG region. The projects include highway improvements, transit, rail and bus facilities, high occupancy vehicle lanes, signal synchronization, intersection improvements, freeway ramps, etc. |
State Transportation Improvement Program (STIP)
The State Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) is the biennial five-year plan adopted by the Commission for future allocations of certain state transportation funds for state highway improvements, intercity rail, and regional highway and transit improvements. State law requires the Commission to update the STIP biennially, in even-numbered years, with each new STIP adding two new years to prior programming commitments. |
Surface Transportation Program (STP)
The Regional Surface Transportation Program (RSTP) was established by California State Statute utilizing Surface Transportation Program Funds that are identified in Section 133 of Title 23 of the United States Code. Eligible projects include construction, reconstruction, rehabilitation, resurfacing, restoration, and operation improvements on select transportation and transit infrastructure. |
Local Funding
Measure A is a transportation measure that was approved by 79% of Santa Barbara County voters in November 2008. Measure A is administered by the Santa Barbara County Association of Governments (SBCAG) and will provide more than $1 billion of estimated local sales tax revenues for transportation projects in Santa Barbara County over 30 years. |
Central Coast Zero Emission Vehicle Strategy
SBCAG, in connection with sister regional planning agencies San Luis Obispo Council of Governments (SLOCOG) and the Association of Monterey Bay Area Governments (AMBAG), is developing a Central Coast Zero Emission Vehicle Strategy (CCZEVS). The strategy will become a resource to accelerate the adoption of zero-emission vehicles (ZEV’s), such as electric and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles. SBCAG will hire a consultant with a budget of $190,000 to undertake this effort. The project is expected to begin in early 2022, with an anticipated completion date of May 2023.
