Public Participation Plan

Project Description

SBCAG is updating its Public Participation Plan, which guides how SBCAG informs, engages and gathers input from the public during regional transportation planning, programming and project-related activities.

The Plan describes SBCAG’s approach to public participation, including principles for engagement, tools and strategies for reaching communities, language access and accessibility considerations, and ways to evaluate whether engagement is working.

The updated Plan will replace the current Public Participation Plan and provide a practical framework for future engagement across SBCAG programs, plans, and projects.

Public Participation

Public input is part of developing the Plan itself. SBCAG is seeking feedback on how people want to receive information, participate in transportation decisions and hear back about how their input was considered.

A draft Public Participation Plan is anticipated to be released for public review on Nov. 9.

You can participate in the Plan’s development through the online survey (closed Oct. 21), stakeholder meeting (Nov. 12), public review of the draft Plan, and upcoming public meetings and hearing.

Public Review Meetings

Stakeholder Meeting

Community organizations, public agencies, Tribal representatives and other partners to a virtual stakeholder discussion. The discussion will focus on how information reaches communities, barriers to participation, what engagement methods work well and opportunities for SBCAG and its partners to work together more effectively.

SBCAG will present the draft Public Participation Plan to the subregional committees for review and input.

SBCAG Board of Directors Public Hearing*
10 a.m. | Thursday, Jan. 21 | Zoom & In-person

The SBCAG Board of Directors will hold a public hearing to receive comments and consider adoption of the Public Participation Plan.
