Project funding

  • The SBCAG Board of Directors approved $2.53 million from Measure A, Santa Barbara County transportation sales tax, to fund construction. This is one of four Measure A funded projects on Highway 166 to improve safety and operations.

    Celebrated September 2024

Local leaders and residents celebrated the completion of this Traffic Signal and Safety Improvement project on September 27, 2024. A ribbon-cutting ceremony praised the efforts to improve movement, reduce congestion, and make safety upgrades for vehicles, bicyclists, freight, trucks, and commuters at the intersection of Highway 166 and Black Road. 

The project introduced a new traffic signal system, dedicated turning lanes, improved lighting, reflective pavement markings, and enhanced drainage and flood control.

Project Partners

Fully funded by Measure A, the project was completed through the joint efforts of SBCAG, Caltrans, the City of Guadalupe, the City of Santa Maria, and the County of Santa Barbara. Engineering and construction partners included: Psomas, Rincon Consultants, MNS Engineers Inc., and Granite Construction.
