Measure D Transit Programs
Approximately 0.5% of all Measure D revenues are dispersed to paratransit
operators throughout the County. The funds are allocated to public
paratransit operators to reduce fares and improve door-to-door transit
service for seniors and the disabled. Funds may be used to:
- Reduce elderly and disabled person fares to not less than
50% of existing elderly and disabled person fares.
-
Provide operating subsidy for paratransit service
improvements and expansion.
-
Contribute to the fare box to meet Transportation
Development Act (TDA) requirements.
- Provide operating subsidy for existing service.
Allocations are based on population within four designated apportionment
areas. Recipients are: Easy Lift Transportation (South Coast area),
Santa Maria Area Transit (Santa Maria and Orcutt area), City of Lompoc
Transit, and Santa Ynez Valley Transit.
In October 2003 the SBCAG
Board approved the allocation of $1.5 million of
Measure D funds to the Coastal Express, a daily bus service operating
between Ventura and Santa Barbara counties. This fundng will help maintain
the program and increase the frequency of peak hour service. For more
