Overview
Regional Early Action Planning Grants of 2021 (REAP 2.0) support equitable, affordable housing and sustainable transportation projects. REAP 2.0 grants integrate housing and climate goals, broader planning and implementation investments, and infrastructural investments for infill development. $5.3 million is available for housing and sustainable transportation in Santa Barbara County.
Public Input
The public can take an online survey in Spanish and English (survey closed) on housing and sustainable transportation. The survey is a part of efforts to gather data that will help community leaders decide what type of transformative projects should receive the available $5.3 million funding from California’s REAP 2.0 program. Participants who complete the survey online or at a public meeting by October 5 will have a chance to receive a $50 cash card.
How to Apply
Applications for the $5.3 million will be released on Oct. 6. Eligible projects must reflect public input received and represent housing, transportation, infrastructure, climate change, infill development and equity. In Santa Barbara County, all projects will be nominated for funding by the SBCAG Board of Directors in one application to the California Department of Housing and Community Development by December 31, 2022.
Who can Apply
Housing Authorities, School Districts, Special Districts, Community-Based Organizations, Cities and Counties are eligible to submit proposals to SBCAG when applications are released October 6. Proposals must have a direct effect on land-use, transportation, or development within Santa Barbara County. A resolution and signed agreement between SBCAG and applicant(s) is required for any REAP 2.0 nominated project by the California Department of Housing and Community Development.
